Originally established in 2002 to deal with the horrendous anti-Israel SA media during the second intifada
Managed under the auspices of the SA Zionist Federation
Peopled by wonderful volunteers from the SA Jewish and Christian ZIonist communities passionate about Israel and about communicating the truth of the Middle East situation
Has a sterling reputation among members of the local Jewish community and is acknowledged and highly regarded by the Ambassador and Deputy Ambassador of the Israeli Embassy in South Africa.
Has been lauded by Jewish groups in Israel and the diaspora
Is viewed with distaste and great discomfort by local “Islamic” advocacy groups which use that label as their raison d’etre but in fact spend all their time and energy on researching and presenting virulent and distorted anti-Israel facts and sentiments
Has achieved major successes with the SA media regarding bringing more balance into the reporting and ensuring the regular publication of letters and op-eds stating Israel’s case dispassionately and factually
Acts as a resource centre for many members of the community vis-a-vis its unparalleled understanding and intimate knowledge of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Is extremely professional in its writings and interactions with media persona, eschewing the need to be hostile or accusatory in favour of unassailable facts and the truth
Has served as a role model for the establishment of similar teams in the diaspora, none however having yet managed to attain its stature or reputation
